Why I'm running
Ellensburg is a special place. It’s where neighbors still know each other, where ideas are shared over coffee, and where the beauty of the land meets the strength of community. I’m running for Ellensburg City Council because I believe Ellensburg deserves thoughtful, responsive leadership that puts people first.
After years working in public service around the world—and nearly a decade building programs and mentoring students at Central Washington University—I’ve learned that lasting change starts locally. We make the biggest impact when we listen closely, act collaboratively, and stay grounded in shared values.
Here in Ellensburg, we face real opportunities—and real challenges. Growth is happening fast, and with it comes big decisions about how we house people, support local businesses, protect our environment, and invest in infrastructure that works for everyone. I believe these decisions should be guided by inclusion, transparency, and a commitment to the common good.
What I believe
- Everyone should have a voice. From long-time residents to newcomers, students to seniors, I want to ensure City Hall is open, accessible, and engaged with the full diversity of our community.
- We need housing that works for all of us. Too many people are being priced out. I support smart, equitable development that maintains Ellensburg’s character while addressing affordability and access.
- Local government should be clear and accountable. As a Planning Commissioner, I’ve seen the impact of behind-the-scenes decisions. I’ll work to ensure residents understand what’s happening—and how to shape it.
- Small businesses and working families need real support. Our economy should reflect our community’s creativity and resilience, not leave people behind.
- We can lead with values. Whether we’re talking about climate, equity, or public safety, I’ll always ask: Is this decision just? Does it reflect who we are? Does it build a stronger Ellensburg?
